According to WordPress, all you have to do to embed an Instagram photo into a post is paste the url of the photo into the post editor and the image will magically appear. Well, they don’t call me magnet fingers for nothing–it doesn’t work for me. I had this similar issue back when I used to manage another WordPress blog, but then it was with YouTube links–same auto-embed feature was supposed to work but for me, it almost never did.
There are a bunch of Instagram plugins, several of which I installed, that authenticate your Instagram credentials and make this whole process an apparent sure thing….yet, if you’re still seeing a url above the text of this post, you can see it’s not working.
UPDATE: Ok, I figured it out! It has to be just the url, not a link–so you paste “http://yourinstagramlink” then highlight it and click the “unlink” icon in the editor (or just delete open and close tags in text view). You’ll just see the url in the editor, but when you publish, the image is there.
Aren’t you glad this is what I do with my Saturday nights?
