I started thinking “I need to do a holiday gift guide post” then realized it’s been like a year since I created any Polyvore sets and I didn’t even remember how to do it anymore. So I figured I’d do a mini “favorite things” post now to practice, then, if I find the time and can sufficiently motivate myself, I’ll do another holiday gift guide closer to the holidays. Wait, what’s that? Normal people actually do holiday shopping in advance of the actual holidays and the pre-holiday gift guide post ship has already sailed if it’s mid November? Nonsense! Surely there are other procrastinators out there who wait until mid-December to start their holiday shopping….right? Please?
Anyway, thanks to the beauty of the Internet in cahoots with Pinterest and now Instagram, there is no shortage of cute things to want in the world and that can easily be had with a few clicks of the mouse. These are just a few of my favorite recent finds from my mainstays Instagram, Pinterest and Etsy. How did I ever find cute things before Pinterest?
If you use Pinterest at all or are on Instagram, you probably are aware of the now-legendary J.Crew Herringbone vest. Pretty much every cute outfit picture on the Internet features that vest–but good luck to you in finding it if you’re actually willing to pay J.Crew prices to own it (did I mention I’m cheap?). I was lucky enough to find a knock-off version at TJ Maxx for $30, but then I saw the one I’m featuring here on Instagram via Marleylilly. SO cute, and even monogrammed, much cheaper than the J.Crew version. The tassel bracelet is also from Marleylilly…hoping someone in my family sees it on my “I want this” Pinterest board and buys it for me. <actually, I just went to get the links and saw that there’s currentl a flash sale going on and the vest is on sale for $69 and the bracelet $19.99!>
The phone case I actually did buy because I drop my iPhone about a billion times a day and had worn my existing case out from all the trauma, so went back to the same Etsy shop to upgrade to a more protective version (I got the “Tough Case” this time and it’s definitely worth the extra few dollars). A true bargain at less than $20 for a heavy-duty, custom monogrammed case, I sadly turned it into a non-bargain when I attempted to put it on my phone and, in so doing, dropped my phone on the kitchen floor and shattered the screen once and for all. Sigh. So then had to go spend $100 on a new screen…negating some of the bargain factor I guess. But now my newly-screened phone is safely ensconced in the new case and very well-protected.
And these Tokidoki flats? Well, at $285, they are no bargain, but they are about the cutest shoes EVER and I had to include them. I saw them on Instagram–in a contest that I didn’t win, much to my eternal sadness. So now I’m reduced to just coveting them and pinning images of them….so enjoy.
