Ugh–what a week–the first week of beautiful weather and I get hit with a wicked a stomach bug. But even feeling like a dead person all week couldn’t extinguish my growing excitement over the fact that Lilly for Target hits stores tomorrow!!
Have no idea what I’m talking about? Lilly Pulitzer is the ridiculously pricey preppy clothing line that I never would have been caught dead in a decade or two ago…but am now obsessed with, as are millions of other ladies. Which led Target to develop this collaboration that has prepsters everywhere in a frenzy preparing for tomorrow’s launch.
Even if you have never even considered wanting anything Lilly before, you may well have been swept in by Target’s marketing campaign featuring a creepy but awesome interactive party video thing, a Look Book that lets you heart all your faves now, a celebrity launch party, a pop-up shop in New York and an addictive commercial featuring giraffes, a monkey in a bellhop costume and Mr. Big. All that plus clothing that usually costs hundreds of dollars all for less than $40 a piece at Target? All I know is that it worked on me–I actually contemplated getting up at o’ crack hundred tomorrow morning to line up at Target. If you know me, you know I don’t get up early if I can possibly avoid it, loathe crowds and I NEVER line up for anything–so the fact that I actually considered it says a lot.
But in reality, even if they were giving it away for free, there’s no way in hell I’d either get up early or line up for it, so online shopping it will be. Apparently the collection will be available online “very early Sunday.” I’ve seen others speculate that it will be at 2 am Central Time, but now my flu-fried brain can’t find any of those posts so we’ll just leave it at speculation. Suffice it to say, middle of the night tonight equals very early Sunday, apparently.
Here are some tips to help you plan your Lilly for Target shopping spree:
- What to Know About Shopping Lilly Pulitzer for Target This Weekend–there will be lines at stores so wear sneakers and caffeine up; be ready for a mob scene inside the store; have an idea what you want and laser-focus on it fighting off the masses; some pieces will only be available online (like plus sizes, which I think is sad and ridiculous); if shopping online have your profile and payment information already saved so you’re ready to check out in an instant.
- Lilly Pulitzer for Target: One Lilly Expert’s Hands-On Review–apparently the dresses look cute but the colors are almost neon and the fabric isn’t as thick as the actual dresses (obvi), the bag looks cute online but is crappy in real life, and the home accessories are super cute.
- Lilly Pulitzer for Target on Sale Sunday: How to Get What You Want–Yikes–apparently be scared of crazed ladies who will hurt you for items in your cart in the store. Yet another reason to shop online.
Willing to pay a premium to not have to go through any of this mess? You can head to eBay right now to buy stuff at a huge markup but still cheaper than regular Lilly.
