If you’ve never seen Step Brothers, a) you’re missing out and b) you won’t have any idea what the title of this post means. If that’s the case, obviously you need to go watch Step Brothers, right? Or at least this clip. Warning: if you’re easily offended by language, you might want to take a pass on both the movie and the clip….but you’ll be missing out on hilarity.
So if you’re reading this you know me, obvi, or at least my writing. And if you’re friends with me on Facebook, you know my daughter, Mimi, has recently started a beauty channel on YouTube. As a parent who’s paying for college (she’s a sophomore majoring in Mass Communications), I personally am most excited about the fact that she knows how to create and edit videos and is pretty awesome at it (in my admittedly biased opinion). Job skill! Plus she’s an awesome photographer–something I most assuredly am NOT. Sadly.
At any rate, aside from the fact that my makeup routine now takes about three times as long as it used to and includes way too many products, I am looking a little fleekier these days thanks to Mimi.
Aside from watching Mimi’s videos and spending a fortune on makeup which takes way too much time to apply, I’ve mostly been hibernating, as is my usual winter habit. I have a stack of books and Kindle books that I keep intending to read but have mostly been binge watching How to Get Away With Murder (which has led to my new hair goal), Rosemary & Thyme, a crusty old British show, and, I confess, spending way, way, WAY too many hours zoning out playing Candy Crush Soda Saga and other mindless yet ridiculously addictive iPad games.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for The Boy, the movie about the creepy boy doll that looked so awesome in the trailers. Spoiler-ish but the bottom line is you’re better off just watching one of my all time favorite creepy movies, Bad Ronald.
While I have never been much of a podcast person, lately I’ve been getting into a few. If you listened to Serial, you absolutely have to listen to Undisclosed. And even though it makes me feel a tiny bit like an old creeper listening to 20-somethings brunch, I love The Shepod. I did try to convince Mimi that we should do a podcast…so far, it’s not happening. I also briefly looked into what it takes to create a decent podcast and just the Googling exhausted me, so, at least for now, I guess I’ll stick to blogging.
Hope you’re enjoying your winter. Any other podcasts I should be listening to? Or advice on ridiculously easy podcasting that doesn’t involve a microphone or editing?
